ABC Saves Scrubs, Cancels Mafia

ABC Saves Scrubs, Cancels Mafia

With ABC’s fall and spring line-up now out, it’s unfortunately official. “Cashmere Mafia” has been canceled. I guess we’ll have to be happy with NBC’s “Lipstick Jungle” next season. The show wasn’t bad, and I’ll probably pick it up for the blog. However I enjoyed CM much more.

ABC also announced that it was picking up the NBC comedy “Scrubs。”

lucyliu.jpg If ABC decides to cancel “Cashmere Mafia” then Lucy Liu is expected to jump ship over to “Dirty Sexy Money” and will become a regular there for the second season. The character she’s being courted for is that of an attorney, but it’s not known how she will fit into the show. Peter Krause’s character on the show Nick is the head attorney for the Darling family.

is reporting that while ABC won’t confirm, even saying no decision has yet to be made, it looks like “Cashmere Mafia” won’t be getting a second season。 NBC on the other hand is expected to renew its show “Lipstick Jungle。”

Have watched both, this bums me out because I really felt “Cashmere” was the better show. I hope ABC will give it another shot next season.

Cashmere Mafia: Dogs, Companies and Fashion Shows; Oh And That Lipstick Show

Cashmere Mafia: Dogs, Companies and Fashion Shows; Oh And That Lipstick Show

This week Mia began fostered a dog named Walter. Walter was only interested in sleeping and didn’t show much interest in her. She wanted to send him back, but finally they bonded when Walter chewed up one of her shoes. Unfortunately the people from the dog place came to take him back, and they didn’t feel she was a good fit. Once he was taken away, she realized how much she really wanted him and needed him. Yes yes, she got him back; but this was all a part of the larger realization that Jason, the guy she was dating, just wasn’t doing it for her. Unlike the dog, she could in fact bear to be away from him and didn’t want him around 24/7. Definitely an interesting way to come to the conclusion your not clicking with the guy you are dating.

Zoe, the super mom of the show, was now working at home having quit her job. Her former partner, who took all the credit for her deal and got a promotion, kept coming to her throughout the show because he needed her help. She gave him the cold shoulder. Meanwhile she became obsessed with her daughters science project, having to take over and make it the biggest and the best. Of course by the end of the show, she realized what she was doing. I was a bit disappointed with this storyline this week. I mean that little tactic has been done on every show I can think of.  What disappointment even more was her husband told her if she wanted to go back to her job, it was okay. WHAT! She should NOT go back to that place after the crap that was pulled on her!

Juliette was also dealing with company issues of her own。 Newly divorced, her company has become the target of a hostile take over by some business mogul buying up all her stocks。 Not only did he want her company, but her too! He kept trying to court her, but eventually she let him know her company was not for sale and he couldn’t have her either。

Finally Caitlin was put in charge of a Lilly Parish cosmetics show. She took a chance on using a new designer, who flaked on her and didn’t have any of the outfits ready for the show. He showed up with them in pieces and was going to finish them, when the show started in two hours! When Caitlin flipped, he told her that she was making it impossible for him to work and he was freezing up. She saved the day by having the models just go out in their panties and bustiers, with really flashy and outrageous make-up jobs and the tag line “It doesn’t matter what you wear, as long as you’re wearing Lilly Parish.” She saved the show!

Honestly this was one of the more boring episodes for me。 It seemed to be missing the pizazz of the early shows。 Meanwhile I have been watching the counterpart “Lipstick Jungle” on NBC。 Some background。 “Lipstick Jungle” is based on a book by Candace Bushnell, who wrote the “Sex And The City” book。 That was obviously turned into a hit show for HBO, and Darren Star produced it。 Darren Star then produced and created “Cashmere Mafia。” So there is some bad blood between the two, and if you’ve watched both shows, they are very similar。 Unfortunately “Cashmere” got out of the gate first, that’s always a plus。 I have to say I enjoy the women and stories on “Cashmere” much more。 Currently Brooke Shield’s character on “Lipstick” is the only one that intrigues me。 The other two characters simply annoy me!

Is anyone watching both? Your thoughts?

Cashmere Mafia: The Girls Had Bad Days!

Cashmere Mafia: The Girls Had Bad Days!

Wow what a depressing, yet at the same time liberating episode of “Cashmere Mafia” tonight. First, I was of course only partially paying attention. I had some stuff due tomorrow, so I was doing too much at once again! So I’ll just give a brief recap and some thoughts on tonight for what happened with each girl.

Zoe and her scum bag of a partner had a big client/account coming up . . . and in the end her partner took all the credit for Zoe’s work and got a promotion. Zoe couldn’t take it and said “I quit!” Good for her, but I wonder where this is leading? I mean clearly she won’t become a stay at home mom while her hubby goes out and seeks his job. That isn’t really the premise of this show!

Juliet thought Davis had a heart attack and ran to his bed side。 It turned out he had a panic attack。 Once out of the hospital, he served her with divorce papers, saying his lawyer claimed her bedside vigil was to ingratiate herself to him and see how much she could take him for。 Juliet told him after 15 some years of marriage, she knows what he has to offer。 Excuse me but isn’t he the one hurting for money here? I was assuming he’d be going after her money!

鼎宝福彩Mia was on a mission to get a DVD back from Jack, a sex DVD。 She was afraid Jack or his new girlfriend might leak it out of spite。 She got it back, but she seemed to get Jack back too。 They had some serious sex 。 。 。 but then Mia dumped his arse! Turns out Jack wanted her back, because he got a new job and now felt her equal。 She told him she couldn’t be worried about who had the better resume in this relationship and set him packing。 Amen!

Finally Caitlin met Alicia’s ex, who returned after learning about the baby。 A little relationship issue struggle went on。 Caitlin was ready to commit to the idea of being with Alicia and having this baby, but Alicia turned around and dumped her deciding she wanted the ex back! All I can say is Alicia’s loss。 How pathetic was it that she took back the woman who dumped her and left her? I thought it was big time pathetic, and it seemed like she only came back because of the whole baby thing。 Blah! Caitlin is better off without her, but I hope she figures out her sexual identity soon。

Cashmere Mafia

So I’ve decided to add ABC’s “Cashmere Mafia” to the blog. I’ve actually really enjoyed this show, even if it does seem to be a “Sex and the City” rip-off. The show is about for business women living in New York. Mia is a publishing mogul who lost her fiance when she won the job they were both competing for. Zoe is some kind of a wheeler and dealer for selling off companies, while having a family at home she feels guilty she’s neglecting. Juliet is a hotel mogul with a cheating husband, who she found out has been having an affair with a woman in the city. She also just found out he’s financially in trouble and about to wipe out their bank accounts. Finally Caitlin is a cosmetics exec who has had trouble relationships with men, and recently found herself attracted to a woman. Now however it seems she’s found herself attracted to a man again!

Is anyone watching? What are your thoughts? I’m actually really enjoying it. It’s silly and fun, with a touch of seriousness. I loved that Juliet finally kicked her hubby Davis to the curb. I was also glad Zoe, in the last episode, caught her co-worker and his little office fling Katherine trying to usurp her authority. Finally Caitlin, what a mess she is!

It will be interesting to see how it compares to NBC’s “Lipstick Jungle,” which debuts in February and is actually based on the second book from the author of “Sex and the City。”
